De-stress Cacao Berry Smoothie - recipe by Nourish Everyday

This beautiful smoothie combination is inspired by my friend and healthy foodie, wellness coach Kavisha Jega (www.kavishajega.com). After Kavisha shared her tips on the best foods to eat to assist with stress management, I had to pack as many of them as I could in to my blender at once!

This berry-rich smoothie is packed full of antioxidants and healthy fats, including omega-3 fatty acids – which our bodies cannot synthesise from other materials and which are essential to cardiovascular health and cognitive function.

Servings: 1 smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 tsp honey or other liquid sweetener of choice
  • 3/4 cup frozen berries
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
  • Serve immediately so it's nice and thick - I like to top mine with cacao nibs and a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds.

Notes

*For a vegan smoothie, use maple syrup, coconut syrup, rice malt syrup or date syrup instead of honey.
