My dairy free chia acai smoothie bowl is a low sugar blend of fruit and vegetables, together with vanilla protein and nut butter for a balanced breakfast! Thanks very much to Indigo Herbs for sending me their Super Vital Superfood Blend to use in this smoothie.
This beautiful chia acai smoothie bowl has a special little story behind it. I was recently sent a beautiful box of goodies from Indigo Herbs, a Glastonbury-based whole foods supplier that carries a HUGE range of natural products. Seriously – every time I have gone on to their website I have become lost in the online store! So, I was awfully glad when Indigo Herbs decided to just curate a bundle of some of their top products and send it on over to me.
Then, a funny little thing happened. Not one, but two boxes of my products arrived in the post! There had been a warehouse mix up and I ended up with an absolute bounty of goodness. In return for this little unexpected blessing, I thought I might showcase some of the Indigo Herbs range in this special recipe post.
One of the products I was sent to sample was a special Indigo Herbs blend called Super Vital Superfood Blend. It’s a powder blend of beetroot, acai and baobab, perfect for mixing into smoothies, porridge and baking. High in Vitamin C, a serve of this powder is also a source of trace amounts of Vitamin E, potassium, calcium and iron, as well as a reasonable amount of fibre.
Given the acai content, my first instinct was to create some kind of chia acai smoothie bowl with the Super Vital blend! As I like to keep my smoothie bowls on the low sugar side, I have been enjoying this powder blended into a mix of fruit and vegetables, together with some protein powder and some Indigo Herbs raw almond butter. The protein powder and almond butter help make this a balanced smoothie bowl (you can read more of my tips on how to make a healthy balanced smoothie in my dedicated blog post).

Hello,
Question 1: can I substitute Super Vital Superfood Blend with frozen acai?
Question 2: can I substitute Super Vital Superfood Blend with Super Seed by garden of life?
Thanks so much!
Monique
Hi Tracy, I think using frozen acai in this smoothie should be absolutely fine 🙂 I am not as familiar with Super Seed by garden of life. It seems to be a fibre supplement – probably not a direct substitute for acai but you could add it to the smoothie as an extra ingredient.
Barbara
This is just so pretty. What are the little lavender flowers sprinkled on top? It’s such a lovely touch.
Monique
Thank you so much Barbara! The flowers on the top are dried cornflowers, I picked them up from a local market 🙂
Raia
This sounds amazing! I love that you sneaked zucchini in there, as well. 😉 Thank you for sharing it with us at Allergy Free Thursdays, Monique. I’m featuring it at this week’s party. I can’t wait to try it!
Monique
Hello Raia, hope all is well with you! Thank you so much for your kind words and for featuring me! I had to sneak some extra veggies in there as these acai bowls are usually quite high sugar, so I thought I’d take a more balanced approach 🙂
