This Essential Raw Muesli Mix is a household staple. It’s not so much a recipe as it is just a list of tasty, nutrient-dense items that you can combine as you desire, really. My favourite element is the coconut flakes, which give the blend a beautiful smell that makes you so hungry every time you open the lid, as well as adding a dose of healthy fats, fibre and sweetness too.
From this base you can create so many wonderful meals – roast it up into granola, soak it for a bircher muesli, cook it on the stove as a porridge. You can even add it to muffins or make your own healthy muesli bars. Yum!
Essential Raw Muesli Mix
This essential raw muesli mix can be used as a base for making healthy granola, porridge or bircher muesli/overnight oats.
- 2 cups rolled oats - gluten free
- 1 and 1/2 cups coconut flakes
- 1/2 cup buckwheat groats
- 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon - OPTIONAL
- Combine all ingredients, and store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
*You can add some nuts and/or dried fruit to the muesli mix if you like. If you're going to use the mix to make granola, leave the dried fruit out - this should be added after baking.
