A recap of Nourish Every Day’s most popular recipes in 2017! From paleo breakfasts to vegan soups, healthy snacks and a classic buckwheat loaf. I love all of these recipes myself and I’m so pleased to know you’re loving them too!
I thought it would be nice to round out 2017 with a look back at the most trending recipes on Nourish Every Day. Although I’m no mega blogger – ha, yet! – 2017 felt like I made great progress with my blog. I’ve invested in some more props and camera equipment, and tried to actually create some procedure around managing the website. In the kitchen, I now commit more time to testing, testing and re-testing my work and being more thoughtful about how I blog. Nourish Every Day is still my passion project, and if you do stop by to visit please know how grateful I am that you’re here.
Now without further ado; my 10 most popular recipes in 2017!
No Food Processor Protein Balls
Hands down the most adored newcomer to the blog in 2017! These no food processor protein balls (pictured above!) top the Nourish Every Day list of most popular recipes for the year. Made from a short versatile ingredients list, I make these all the time and it seems lots of others like to do so as well! One of my goals for 2018 is to make a few new versions of these for you guys – namely a grain free version. Stay tuned!
Turmeric Cauliflower Buddha Bowls
I think it is the bright, all-the-colours-of-the-rainbow photos that have drawn lots of attention to these buddha bowls. There are so many easy, yummy ways you can fix yourself a buddha bowl, but the turmeric cauliflower in this one is a damn good addition. Confession; when I first posted this recipe I left an ingredient out of the dressing! After a few reader comments I managed to sort that out…whoops!
Maca and Coconut Flour Pancakes for One
So many lovely people on Instagram have tagged me in their posts of these fluffy pancakes! Maca and coconut flour make a sweet, delightful stack to begin your day with. Not hard to see why these were one of my post popular recipes in 2017! Personally, I’m just happy to have sorted out a single-serve pancake recipe as there’s not a ton of batter to cook and you get to tuck in very quickly.
Thyme and Balsamic Slow Cooker Lamb Shanks
From speedy cooking to slow, sumptuous lamb. But still with very little effort required! These thyme and balsamic lamb shanks are made in the slow cooker with a rich tomato-based sauce. Serve them with steamed greens and sweet potato mash for a healthy comfort food dinner. After the long cooking time the lamb is seriously melt in your mouth, so good!
Pea and Miso Broccoli Soup
If big meaty dinners aren’t your thing you might prefer one of my other popular recipes in 2017; this lovely warming pea and miso broccoli soup. It’s got all the green goodness you need in an easy, breezy soup form. Simply boil it all together, blend and voila! The miso adds a lovely depth of flavour. Tip: adjust the amount of miso paste to suit the version you have! I find that some are stronger than others. Start with 2 tbsp.
Easy Crunchy Flaxseed Crackers
A golden oldie from the blog that somehow turned into one of the most clicked and pinned recipes on Nourish Every Day. This year I started going through some of my favourite older recipes and re-shooting the photos (I’m trying to improve my camera skills, slowly ha!). These crunchy flaxseed crackers got a revamp and it seems to have spiked attention! Gluten, grain and dairy free, and perfect for low-carbers.
Healthy Carrot Cake Oat Porridge
Making a big old messy bowl of porridge + grated veggies was a staple for me when I was living in chilly London. It had a huge resurgence in my life, and the love for this idea seems to be universal as it’s continued to be one of my most popular recipes in 2017! With a few spices and a dash of vanilla, this healthy bowl is carrot-cakey breakfast goodness. I also make it with quinoa flakes or buckwheat flakes when there are no GF oats.
Lemon, Cashew and Coconut Energy Balls
Will we ever tire of bliss balls / protein balls / energy balls? I hope not, as they’re an awesome snack and really easy to make. These lemon, cashew and coconut energy balls combine chewy, sweet Medjool dates with healthy fats (from cashews), plus chia and protein powder. Finished with a zest of lemon for that little something extra! These keep for ages in the fridge and can also be frozen, so they’re super convenient.
Paleo Baked “Oatmeal” aka “Noatmeal”
Probably one of the more unusual recipes on Nourish Every Day, but it still worked it’s way solidly in to my most popular recipes in 2017! Instead of using oats, this grain free breakfast substitutes grated sweet potato and flaked coconut. You mix in eggs and almond milk and then bake in the oven. It’s sweet, delicious and a great way to kick off your day with a heap of vegetables!
Gluten Free Vegan Buckwheat Bread
One of my old classic recipes that is one of the most visited, most commented on, and most Pinned recipe basically of all time on the blog! In 2017 it’s continued to be so very loved. Most readers seem to be very successful with this recipe, and that makes me so happy as I really love this bread myself. Slice it up and store it in the freezer as it toasts up nicely – pile it up with smashed avocado.
So there you have it, my most popular recipes for the last year! Some strong newcomers, and some old favourites too. Thank you for your support guys! Monique x
